In addition to the Old Course, St Andrews Links Trust manages the New, Jubilee, Eden, Strathtyrum and Balgove courses as well as the Castle Course, sown out with Barenbrug seed and opened in 2008. Host to the Open Championship for the 30th time in 2022, the Walker Cup matches for the ninth time in 2023 (100 years on from their second playing), the Old Course will welcome the best female golfers in the world for the Women’s Open for the third time in 2024. The hallowed turf may feel as if it has been there forever but is under a regime of constant maintenance and inevitable replacement, by means of divot fill and overseeding.
